PREVI's Psychology Clinical Center
We are a team of professional psychotherapists and researchers
devoted to the development and promotion of health form Psychology.
We count on different collaboration agreements with the University
Jaume I at Castellón, University of Valencia, and Polytechnic
University of Valencia.
We undertake the psychological assessment and psychological
treatment from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, which underlines
how persons interpret reality and how they give meaning to
the events that surround them.
The strategies of assessment and treatment used at PREVI's
Psychology Clinical Center are supported by rigorous scientific
research. In the field of Clinical Psychology, and following
the statements of outstanding researchers such as Hans Eysenck
and Stanlye Rachman, there is a special emphasis in the psychological
treatments backed by a sound empirical evidence.
In order to do so, a group of experts belonging to the Clinical
Psychology Division (12th Division) of the American Psychological
Association (APA, 1993) elaborated a report on Promotion and
Dissemination of Psychological Procedures (Task Force on Promotion
and Dissemination of Psychological Procedures, 1993) that
recognizes the existence of effective psychological treatments
and the need of identify them and use them. The original report,
published in 1995 (Task Force on Promotion and Dissemination
of Psychological Procedures, 1995) was revised and updated
in two occasions (Chambless et al., 1996, 1998). Currently,
there is a list of empirically validated treatments for different
psychological disorders. However, such a list is not definite
yet, which means that the research task has just begun.
PREVI's group follows that line and offers empirically validated
treatments for different psychological disorders, insofar
as they are available.
Furthermore, we use top technology to create virtual environments
for the treatment of particular disorders. These virtual environments
have been clinically validated and tested in controlled studies
to prove their effectiveness.
